Do You Speak Ethernet?
LÜTZE transportation has made the compact control DIOLINE PLC fit for the communications protocols Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP and UDP/IP.

The railway technology LÜTZE Transportation, Weinstadt has for many years provided a universal-use control technology for decentralised I/O tasks in railways vehicles with their DIOLINE PLC compact control. Now LÜTZE has supplemented the DIOLINE PLC control with further Ethernet communications protocols. In addition to the fieldbuses MVB, CAN, J1939 and their own LÜTZE L-Bus, the Ethernet-protocols Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP or UDP/IP are supported. In addition, the LÜTZE engineers have implemented further functionalities: a redundant CANopen Master and a non-volatile 2 MB diagnosis memory.

The DIOLINE PLC compact control has been especially developed for robust operations on railway vehicles. The control is freely programmable and can either take on additional control tasks as the MVB/CAN Gateway, or be used as a full subsystem control. The DIOLINE PLC control can be used for example as a subsystem control for air conditioning units, wet rooms, fire-fighting systems and powerpack controls.

Ethernet: The communications standard of the future in railway technology.

With the implementation of additional Ethernet protocols, LÜTZE Transportation is reacting to technology changes in rail vehicle automation. Due to its high bandwidth, Ethernet is in a position to fulfil even future requirements on modern control technology architectures. Ethernet infrastructures are already available in many current projects, as passenger information systems and video monitoring installations already work using this communications standard. In addition, Ethernet provides extended diagnosis possibilities, and a reduction in the tools required for project planning and commissioning. Ideally, any decentralised unit, whether cameras, subsystem controls or information displays, can be reached via only one central Ethernet connection located within the vehicle.
