Compact four-changeover relay module for railway applications
LÜTZE TRANSPORTATION, Germany, is expanding its proven portfolio of single and double contact changeover relay modules for railway applications with a new four-changeover relay module with a width of only 22.5 mm.
With a width of only 22.5 millimeters, the new four-changeover relay module offers an extremely space-saving alternative to significantly larger and heavier contactors. The module features two separate coil inputs with different switching thresholds: input A1.2 activates from 13 volts and is designed for 24 V and 36 V on-board power systems, while input A1.1 switches from 33 volts, ensuring reliable operation in 72 V and 110 V systems. This clear separation prevents false triggering caused by residual voltages, which can occur with wide voltage range inputs. Another benefit lies in the relay being permanently soldered onto the PCB. Unlike plug-in solutions, this design eliminates contact problems caused by micro-vibrations (fretting corrosion) and reliably prevents both high contact resistance and the resulting overheating risks.

The hard gold-plated contacts of the four-changeover relay module ensure reliable and precise switching, even at very low loads. Unlike plug-in versions, the module comes delivered fully assembled and ready to install under a single part number, significantly reducing installation and storage costs. All relevant railway standards are fully met, including EN 50155, EN 50121-3-2, EN 50124-1, EN 61373, the fire safety standard EN 45545-2, and the EMC directive 06 from the German Federal Railway Authority.
